LONDON Residential gateway design specialist Arcturus Networks Inc. (Toronto, Canada) has inked two development partnerships, one with BRECIS Communications focusing on security software, the other with BenQ Corporation for a SoHo product aimed at the carrier and service provider markets.
The project with BRECIS (San Jose, California) focuses on Arcturus helping to develop management and security software for BRECIS's range of multi-service processors (MSP).
The collaboration will result in Arcturus implementing their device management and secure networking firmware suites to the BRECIS MSP architecture. The MSP architecture handles multiple services (security, voice, and data) in one system-on-silicon (SoC) and, according to BRECIS, at a performance and quality level not previously available for customer premises equipment.
The project with BenQ (Taipei) requires Arcturus to deliver management, firewall and VPN firmware on a high-speed MIPS based platform for a BenQ hardware design.
Arcturus provides highly integrated solutions that reduces development risk for an OEM or ODM and gets their product to market faster. Its approach offers the ability to optimize solutions at each step of the development cycle, including hardware, tools, OS, drivers, and all ISO layers including applications.
The BenQ product is being designed to provide high-speed VPN and firewall protection to broadband enabled business and homes.
"The real advantage for BenQ, was the ability of Arcturus to provide a complete and very integrated firmware solution, providing everything we needed to enable our product from device initialization to firmware applications," said Honda Sheng, Associate Vice-President Broadband Business, BENQ Corporation.
