SANTA CLARA, Calif.--NeoMagic Corp. here announced it has formed an alliance with operating system developer Symbian.

Under the plan, Neomagic has joined Symbian's Platinum Partner Program. NeoMagic has optimized v6.1 of Symbian's OS for its MiMagic 3 family of applications processors and is currently working to optimize future MiMagic products for Symbian OS v7.0.

Solutions using Symbian OS and MiMagic will enable high-performance multimedia capabilities on mobile devices, such as smartphones and mediaphones. NeoMagic will also offer a combined board support package that allows developers to rapidly develop these devices.

Additionally, NeoMagic receives early access to the Symbian OS Development Kit. As a member of Symbian's Semiconductor Partner Program, NeoMagic will benefit from technical and commercial support from Symbian's partner service organization.
