Shugart to Board

Cypress Semiconductor Corp., San Jose, Calif. has named former Seagate Technology CEO Alan F. Shugart to its board of directors.

Shugart joined Seagate in 1979 and was asked to leave the company in July as it began a corporate overhaul.

With the addition of Shugart, Cypress has five board members, including Eric Benhamou, chairman and chief executive officer of 3Com Corp., the chairman of the board; Rodgers; Fred B. Bialek, a founder of National Semiconductor Corporation; and John C. Lewis, chairman of computer manufacturer Amdahl Corp.
