Upfront

Calling all communication design engineers and managers

If you're a design engineer in the communication arena, you've probably already realized that you're working in the hottest technology market out there. Working on technologies that are cutting edge and that are constantly evolving is no easy job. You're probably wondering when there will be a conference focused exclusively on the communication equipment market - a market that Merrill Lynch forecasts will mushroom from $375 billion in 2000 to $600 billion in 2003. Well, the wait is over. Finally, there's a conference designed specifically for the communication systems design engineer. CMP Media, which publishes Communication Systems Design magazine, has unveiled the Communications Design Conference, a new educational forum that will deliver leading-edge design solutions to engineers and engineering management involved in the development of wired, optical, and wireless communication systems and equipment. The conference is being presented by Communication Systems Design and by EE Times.

Running October 1-4, 2001 at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, CA, the Communications Design Conference will cover key technologies driving the growth in the communication market, including 3G design, network processing, DSP design, RF/IF techniques, Bluetooth design, high-speed switching, home networking, voice-over-packet development, broadband design, optical communication design, and next-generation SONET architectures.

Aiming to provide the best of all worlds, the Communications Design Conference will present both moderated paper sessions presenting insights on specific design issues and in-depth training workshops offering practical, how-to solutions for designers. Keynotes and plenary panel discussions as well as full- and half-day tutorials will also be offered addressing a range of cutting-edge topics. At the conference, papers, workshops, and plenary sessions will be presented in the following application tracks: Wireless Infrastructure, Portable & Wireless Appliances, Systems & Infrastructure, Fiber-Optic Design, Broadband Access & Backbone Design, Software/Middleware, Home Networking Design, and Internetworking Equipment Design.

So, don't let your technology be overlooked in the exploding communication arena. Submit a proposal over the Web at www.commdesignconference.com/cfa. All submissions must include a presentation title, a 200 word abstract and outline, full contact information, and an 80 word biography for all presenters. A preferred format and application track must also be indicated. Check out the conference Web site for full submission guidelines and selection criteria. For information on additional presentation opportunities, contact conference coordinator, Melissa Seiden, at mseiden@cmp.com or 415.278.5327.
